Frankenstein

For a school project, I was tasked with developing the art-direction and layout for a new publication of Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein. I wanted to stay away from the cliches and work with imagery that connects with Shelley’s complex themes. I decided on an art direction that incorporated the old and the new as well as collages made out of public domain images. The collages speak to Victor Frankenstein’s complex layers as well as the more literal collage-like make-up of the monster. The theme of the collage carries over into the typography with a somewhat unusual pairing of Caslon and Neue Kabel.
